Feels like summer

Feels like summer

For most of my childhood and into my teens, and even my 20s and 30s, I spent up to ten months a year looking forward to summer.

Nowadays, I dread its arrival more and more every year.

The situation in Europe right now is really concerning. The silver lining is that Europeans are finally realizing what is happening. It's always the same: When something terrible happens to a non-Western country, nobody cares. It has to happen to wealthy, white countries for it to "matter." So maybe now the planet burning will start to matter. Maybe?

Here in Japan... After a "cool" June (by which I mean relatively normal temperatures for once), the heat has arrived and it's here to stay. It's 34°C today in my part of the country. It will climb to 36°C on Tuesday, and it likely won't go below 30°C (and 25°C at night) until September.

Next year will be worse.

The year after that will be even worse.

Oh, and the title is, of course, a reference to Childish Gambino's song. Make sure you don't get distracted by the wrong things when you listen to it.
